Release and escape calls may arrive overnight, so the contact number should be one the registrant can answer directly rather than a switchboard.

Hardee County VINE PIN Nuance
The four-digit PIN is easy to misunderstand. It is not the person's inmate number, a search password, or proof of identity. It is the acknowledgment code for a telephone notification. Entering it tells the automated system that the call was received and stops repeat calls tied to that notice. Text and email alerts do not repeat in the same way.
FDC instructions add a useful detail. If no PIN is selected for an FDC phone registration, the last four digits of the telephone number may become the default. FDC Victim Release Notification
FDC maintains a separate Victim Notification Request for eligible victims, survivors, or representatives. It is not a general friends-and-family registration form. The form requests details about the requesting person, the offender, the crime, the county, the case, and notification preferences. Supplying a phone number can register automated VINE calls for release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movement.
A direct VINELink registration is not automatically shared with FDC Victim Services. An eligible person who needs the FDC-specific route must complete that agency process. This distinction matters for someone held at Hardee Correctional Institution or its work camp because the state prison system, not HCSO, creates that custody record. County-jail alerts should remain tied to the participating local reporting agency.

Confirm Hardee County VINE Releases
VINE does not replace federal or immigration locators. A person in Bureau of Prisons custody should be checked through the BOP Inmate Locator.
